In short: we collect only what we need to organize your tour, we never sell your information, we never share it with third parties beyond what's strictly required to deliver your booked services, and you can request deletion at any time.

1. Information we collect

When you contact us or book a tour, we may collect:

• Identification data: full name (as on passport), nationality, date of birth, passport number (required for Inca Trail permits and Machu Picchu tickets — these are personal and non-transferable).
• Contact data: email address, phone number (WhatsApp), home country and city.
• Travel data: dates of travel, group size, dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, hotel preferences.
• Payment data: we do not store credit card details. Payments are processed via third-party gateways (PayPal, Mercado Pago, bank transfers) under their own privacy policies.
• Communication records: WhatsApp messages, emails, and inquiry form submissions.

2. How we use it

Strictly for:

• Organizing and delivering your booked tour services.
• Communicating with you about your booking, itinerary changes, weather alerts, and logistics.
• Processing the official permits and tickets required by Peruvian authorities (Inca Trail, Machu Picchu).
• Compliance with Peruvian tax and tourism regulations (MINCETUR, SUNAT).
• Internal record-keeping for accounting, audits, and dispute resolution.

3. Who we share it with

Only with parties strictly necessary to deliver your tour:

• Peruvian government entities: Ministry of Culture (for Machu Picchu and Inca Trail tickets), MINCETUR.
• Transport providers: PeruRail, IncaRail, Consettur — only the names and passport numbers needed for ticket issuance.
• Hotels: only the name needed for reservation.
• Payment processors: for transaction execution.

We do not share your information with marketing companies, data brokers, social media platforms, or any other third party for commercial purposes. We do not run advertising campaigns based on your data.

4. Your rights

Under Peruvian Law N° 29733, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements for tax/regulatory purposes — typically 5 years post-tour).
• Opt out of any future commercial communications (we don't send marketing emails by default, but if we ever start a newsletter, you can opt out).
• File a complaint with the Peruvian Personal Data Protection Authority (Autoridad Nacional de Protección de Datos Personales) if you believe your rights have been violated.

5. Data retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by Peruvian law. Tour-related records are retained for 5 years for tax and audit purposes. After that, data is securely destroyed or anonymized.

6. Security

We maintain reasonable technical and organizational security measures, including encrypted email channels for sensitive data (passport numbers), restricted access to records, and secure off-site backups. No system is perfectly secure; if you have specific security concerns, contact us before sharing sensitive information.

7. Cookies and website tracking

Our website (machupicchutours.shop) is a static HTML site that does not use tracking cookies. We do not embed Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar trackers. If you fill our contact form, the data is sent via Web3Forms (a third-party form service) to our email — no profile is created.

8. Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 directly. If you book a tour for a family that includes minors, we collect the minor's name, date of birth, and passport number only as required for entry tickets. This data is treated with the same protections as adult data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Substantive changes will be communicated to clients with active bookings.
